{"id":49030,"date":"2024-02-21T10:40:12","date_gmt":"2024-02-21T09:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiorentini-iberia.com\/?page_id=49030"},"modified":"2024-02-21T10:40:14","modified_gmt":"2024-02-21T09:40:14","slug":"from-electricity-to-green-gas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fiorentini-iberia.com\/en\/expertise\/power-to-gas\/from-electricity-to-green-gas\/","title":{"rendered":"From electricity to green gas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Power-to-gas technology exploits the phenomenon of&nbsp;<strong>electrolysis<\/strong>: excess energy from wind farms, photovoltaic fields and electrical infrastructure congestion is used to break the bonds of the water molecules and&nbsp;<strong>produce<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>hydrogen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green hydrogen can be&nbsp;<strong>upgraded on site<\/strong>&nbsp;where there is consumption, for example in the automotive sector,&nbsp;<strong>or transported to the point of use&nbsp;<\/strong>via new dedicated infrastructure or, alternatively, using the existing gas network (up to permitted compatibility percentages).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This infrastructure is evolving so as to be able to accept increasing quantities of hydrogen that can be injected into the grid thanks to the use of&nbsp;<strong>blending systems<\/strong>. This is a technological constraint that can now be completely overcome thanks to&nbsp;<strong>power-to-methane&nbsp;<\/strong>(P2M<em>)<\/em>&nbsp;solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, we can&nbsp;<strong>convert hydrogen produced from electric energy into methane and water<\/strong>&nbsp;by making use of the Sabatier reaction by using an external source of carbon dioxide.
